Instruct

Advanced Instruction

All of our moisture barrier maintenance is done by a certified member at our location in Albuquerque, NM. We understand the importance of detecting flaws, which is why we follow the detailed process that is, stated in the NFPA 1851 Section 6.

How Does Instruct on NFPA 1851 Work?

We are a proud ISP (Independent Service Provider) verified and certified to maintain Fire Fighter Bunker Gear. We also instruct on NFPA 1851.

We can provide training to give you the knowledge to determine if your gear needs to be sent to us for repairs. For example,

during a moisture barrier review, our specialized team uses a hydrostatic pressure device to detect even the smallest flaw. The hydrostatic pressure uses 1 PSI of water pressure, which will display leaks if present.

FIRE W.I.R.E. LLC also fully reviews the outer shell and liners for rips, tears, cuts, holes, charring, burn holes, melting, and discoloration.

How Often Should Gear be Sent in for Maintenance?

You should send bunker gear in to an ISP at least every 12 months. Also, if you notice a problem with your gear, it should be sent to the ISP for repairs right away. It is crucial that you do not miss annual maintenance or ignore potential problems. This process allows for us to detect unseen or surpassed flaws, which leads to better safety.
